From June 30th to July 5th in 2018, we embarked on a thrilling climbing adventure to conquer the towering peaks of Mount Whitney. Our journey was a testament to determination, camaraderie, and the awe-inspiring beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Setting out from Whitney Portal, we began our ascent with dreams of conquering both the Mountaineers Route and the East Buttress. Our first attempt to reach the summit was met with the unpredictability of nature, as a thunderstorm forced us to seek refuge in our tents. During this pause, some of our team members battled altitude sickness, reminding us that even the most seasoned climbers must adapt to the mountain's whims.
Undeterred, we spent time around our camp, waiting for the perfect weather window. And when it arrived, it was a moment of pure exhilaration. With clear skies overhead, we made our victorious summit push, savoring the breathtaking vistas from the top of Mount Whitney.
Returning to Whitney Portal, we allowed ourselves some well-deserved recovery time, indulging in hearty meals and rejuvenating dips in the pristine streams that meandered through our campsite. But our passion for climbing remained unquenched.
We turned our attention to the Becky Route on El Segundo Buttress, setting up a new camp at the portal. Our ascent, however, came with a twist - we realized we had forgotten our headlamps. Undismayed, we pressed on, navigating the dark terrain with care, relying on our collective experience and the faint glimmer of starlight.

EAST BUTTRESS
